Distributor Fuel Injection Pumps - DPA (Lucas) Type
The DPA pumps range offers compact size incorporating pumping unit, mechanical governor, timing device and transfer pump in a pressurized, fuel lubricated unit, whose number of main parts remains independent of the number of cylindres in the engine.
A single pumping unit (the hydraulic head) consisting of 2 opposite plungers, located within a transverse bore of a distributor rotor, and forced inwards by lobes of a stationary internal cam ring, ensures a uniform delivery of fuel to each engine's cylinder.
The amount of delivery is determined by the plunger's outward stroke, which varies with the quantity of admitted fuel, controlled by the opening of a metering valve (inlet metering principle), the max. stroke being mechanically determined.
